Traveling back in time to when Robert Johnson supposedly made that famous deal at the crossroads? Count me in for that wild ride! I'd love to see if it's fact or fiction and get a taste of the blues at its roots.
I'd set my time machine for the early 1930s in the Mississippi Delta. The epicenter of blues, where all those legends were born. Of course, my first stop would be that legendary crossroads where the deal allegedly went down. I'd have to see if the devil was really involved or if it's all just a tall tale.
Meeting Robert Johnson in person, that's the real jackpot. His guitar skills and emotional lyrics are the stuff of legend. Imagine seeing him strumming that old guitar and feeling the soul of the blues in the air. I'd pick his brain about the mysteries of his music.
And while I'm at it, I'd soak up the history and culture of the Deep South during that time. The African American experience and the blues' origins would be eye-opening.
But you know what? As cool as all that sounds, I'd hightail it back to my own time when I'm done. The past is fascinating, but I'll take the present and its modern conveniences any day. I'd bring back some epic stories and maybe a bluesy tune or two, leaving the past to keep its secrets.
